Curriculum Best Practice and Innovation

Prof. Anatoliy V. Glushchenko, PhD, Anatoliy V. Glushchenko, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Physics, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Director, Center for Advanced Technologies & Optical Materials. Dr. Glushchenko has been instrumental in evaluating international and national standards and curriculum. His volunteering in the project and giving back to Colorado Springs community was and continue to be outstanding.

Prof. Irene Estrela-Lopis is a Professor of Bio-Chemistry at the Institut für Medizinische Physik und Biophysik, Universität Leipzig, Medizinische Fakultät. Besides outstanding research, Prof. Lopis is known for creation of many educational projects for high and middle school students in Europe. She is an author of many scientific and pedagogical publications in leading International journals such as Biophysical Journal, Review of Medicine, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and others.

Prof. Horst Kresse is a leading scientist in Physics at the Martin-Luther Universität, Halle, Germany. He has created many methodologies on how to deliver complicated scientific terms and ideas on a level understandable for school students. He devoted almost 50 years to education young generation of future scientists. He has many articles, conference and public presentations on various educational topics.

Laurie Marshall, MA – Brings great elements of passion, self-confidence, creative thinking, 21st century problem solving and connection of talents/passions to academic excellence to After School University curriculum. With a B.A. from Antioch College in history and education, and an M.A. in art and education from Beacon College, Mrs. Marshall is a certified K-12 art and secondary social studies teacher. She’s taught social studies, history, writing, math, reading, drama and art to children, ages 5 to 18 in public, private and alternative schools, community college and university level, as well as training over 3000 teachers in visual literacy for the Polaroid Foundation. In addition, she’s used visual arts, leadership training, conflict prevention and values clarification with government organizations (NASA, Department of Interior, Army Corps of Engineers), universities (Seton Hill University (PA), Indiana University (PA), University of Pittsburgh (PA), Carnegie Mellon University (PA), Robert Morris University,(PA) and Dominican University (CA)), social service agencies (Hospitals, Hospices and Foster Homes).


Dr. Maurizio Nobili
, Professor, Groupe de Dynamique des Phases Condensées, Université Montpellier II, Montpellier, France. He is leading a large educational program in France, discovering beauty of science to school students and university graduate and undergraduate students. He is one of the leading European scientists in soft condensed matter and is known for many discoveries in his field of research.

Prof. Lachezar Komitov has been performing research and educational work in Physics since the beginning of the 1970s. He received his MSc and PhD degree from the Sofia State University and the Institute of Solid State Physics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, respectively. Professor Komitov subsequently held the positions Research Fellow and Senior Instructor at Institute of Solid State Physics, Sofia Bulgaria. He joined the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden as a Professor in Experimental Physics in 2002. Professor Komitov is Associate Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Honorary Member of the Institute of Solid State Physics belonging to this Academy. He is known for his methodology on passing his knowledge to school students and educating many young scientists in Sweden and Europe overall.

Prof. Harry Coles is Head of the Molecular Materials for the Photonics Group and Director of the Centre of Molecular Materials for Photonics and Electronics at the University of Cambridge, England. His research includes work on the optical and the nonlinear optics, including Photonic Devices, Ferroelectrics, Flexoelectricity, Photochromics, Diffractive and Holographic Elements, Waveguide couplers, Quasi and Adaptive Optics, Raman and Correlation Spectroscopy, and Electro-optics and Dielectric Studies. Prof. Coles is also a fellow of St. Catharine's College and is Director of Studies for Physics, Part II and III.

Prof. Chae Il Cheon is a leading promoter of science among young kids in South Korea and Asia (his methodology is known in China, Japan, Taiwan, and other countries). He gives many lectures and seminars on this topic and his publications are among most sited all over the world.
