Most colleges require a minimum score of between 24-28. The national average ACT scores in 2011 was a 21.1 in Mathematics, 20.6 in English, 21.3 in Reading, and 20.9 in Science. However, Colorado scores did not meet those averages. (http://www.ednewscolorado.org)

The goal of the ACT/SAT prep course with After School University is to improve the confidence, strategies, and scores of each student. For example, the Reading portion allots only 35 minutes to read four passages and answer 40 questions. Without proper practice and testing strategies, many students do not finish on time, ultimately lowering their scores.” --Tessa vonHilsheimer, Director, Department of English and Languages, After School University

What is the ACT?

The ACT or American College Testing Assessment Test is a college admissions exam given six times a year. There are four sections: english, math, reading and science, and an optional essay. The ACT takes two hours and 55 minutes, plus the optional 30 minute essay section.

Most students take the ACT during the winter/spring of their junior year, saving the fall of their senior year for retesting, if necessary. You will receive four scores on the ACT, one for each section.  Each section is scored on a scale of 1-36 points.  You will also receive a composite score which is the average of the four scores.  The national average is about 21. The essay will be scored separately.
